Taught by Jacob

The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED Course equips participants with the essential skills required for high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The course covers the chain of survival, chest compression techniques, rescue breathing, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for adults, children, and infants. Participants learn critical teamwork, communication, and quick decision-making skills that are vital in cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes hands-on practice to build confidence and proficiency in providing life-saving interventions effectively.
The traditional Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED course is conducted entirely in person, allowing participants to learn and practice life-saving skills under the direct guidance of an instructor in a classroom setting. This format provides real-time feedback and hands-on practice for skills like chest compressions, rescue breaths, and AED use, ensuring participants can demonstrate proficiency in each area before completing the course.
In contrast, the hybrid BLS CPR/AED course combines online learning with a shorter in-person skills session. Participants complete the cognitive portion of the training online at their own pace, which includes interactive lessons on CPR techniques, AED use, and other BLS principles. Afterward, they attend an in-person session to practice and be assessed on their hands-on skills. This format is ideal for those who prefer a flexible schedule but still require in-person assessment to ensure competency in practical application. Both formats cover the same content, but the hybrid course offers convenience for learners who need more flexibility.
